I know I may be a little late to the party writing content about the recent update from Google.
Good news is I don't know really that much about it or care; if you care, there's something like 9 zillion articles about it on the web by 'experts' and those linking and commenting on the experts.
The short scoop is.. There was a recent update to Google's organic algo and people have coined it the farmer update because it targets content farms. Content farms I guess are basically low value websites that just repost a lot of duplicate content etc.
Probably semi-inaccurate.. they probably just targeted 'kinds' of content. Not 'kinds' of sites.. but just some sites with that 'kind' of content had that kind of content and.. well.. saw a drop in traffic.
Don't care. Why?
- I'm really focused on providing value and quality content. So I was probably too busy doing that to actually notice the change..
- I'm very well diversified. Both in niche markets and in strategy.
- And.. I must be in markets that aren't as affected by the changes because my article marketing efforts are still working for me. In fact, just submitted a few articles to ezinearticles.com yesterday and have a few 100 other article sites I'm still submitting to..
So personally haven't really been affected by this update by any signficant degree. And it hasn't really made me change my strategies.
