Hi all,
Is this meant to be a rant? Well, actually on some level I hope someday some wise person at Google will read an article like this and actually act on it. I dream...
I shouldn't have to send off an e-mail to my members that starts with this..
Listen, it's no secret that Google has been a real pain in
our behinds these last few years.
Google Adwords as a traffic generating model still rocks, but
the people working at Google and managing accounts.. well, not
so much.
They decided it was a good idea at some stage to put a policy
in place to suspend anyone that doesn't conform to their rules
and makes a mistake.. for life. Yes, even a newbie who means
well and just makes a mistake.
I can't tell you how frustrating that is - not just for the newbie,
but for the guy trying to help the newbie out.
It's like trying to tame an out of control beast that likes to
eat little children. lol.. ok, analogies.. probably shouldn't
go there.
Nothing new. Especially if you are an affiliate. There are work arounds, but we'll keep those close to our chest. ;)
But here's the truth and purpose of this post. In that same e-mail I talked about 2 things. One, a new system I'm developing to help us avoid merchants we perceive to be ok, but Google in their infinite wisdom doesn't.. and blaming our innocent mistake on us instead of saying something like, "We know it's an honest mistake and you could have missed this.. please avoid them in the future." lol.. in our dream world.
Instead, banned for life.
But also...
Get angry. Learn from it.. and then let it go.
It's a big internet with a LOT of traffic.
There's more.
Find new sources OR try opening another account. Don't let
the G win. You win. BE A WINNER.
I said...
Please keep in mind.. if you fear Google you have options:
1) You can simply focus only on Bing/Yahoo PPC
2) You can build niche sites in a variety of ways and focus
on other traffic sources including organic traffic (free).
So don't fret. Adwords is not your business. Adwords is just a traffic vehicle..
